The Science Behind Music

In The Booth - Hands-on programs that delve into the technical side of music.

What are the properties of sound and how does it apply to music, musical instruments and musical groups? Focusing on tone, frequency and harmony, students will be led through an engaging demonstration of how string, wind and percussion instruments work and what sound types come out of them. Recommended for grades 6+.

This program is presented in partnership with the Delta Music Institute Entertainment Industry Program at Delta State University. The DMI is an independent center under the College of Arts & Sciences at Delta State University with its mission to provide students with a broad and thorough education in the technological, creative, and business areas of the entertainment industries.
