The Art of Songwriting

Every song begins with a good story. Taught by seasoned songwriters, this workshop focuses on the process of how lyrics and musical composition are woven together to tell a story. Students will listen to GRAMMY award-winning songs, hear various approaches to songwriting and examine how song structure relates to the building blocks of a story-character, setting, and plot. Recommended for grades 3+. 

This workshop is presented in partnership with the Delta Music Institute Entertainment Industry Program at Delta State University. The DMI is an independent center under the College of Arts & Sciences at Delta State University with its mission to provide students with a broad and thorough education in the technological, creative, and business areas of the entertainment industry.
