FitBeat Series

Presented By: Bolivar Medical Center Foundation

In an effort to increase access to health resources within the Cleveland, Miss. community, GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi, and Bolivar Medical Center Foundation will present the fall installment of the FitBeat Series beginning in September and running through December. Presented in partnership with Balance Fitness and Mississippi Arts Commission, the series will feature a variety of classes to inspire healthy habits and living, including yoga, cardio, aerobics, and other types of activities intended for all ages and levels of fitness. After each program, participants will be provided with a healthy snack and free admission to the Mississippi Museum for the day.


The FitBeat Series presented by Bolivar Medical Center Foundation, Balance Fitness, Mississippi Arts Commission, and GRAMMY Museum Mississippi will kick off on September 11, with scheduled events running every other Saturday through December 18. A complete list of scheduled dates and pop-up events is listed below. Each class will begin at 9 a.m. unless otherwise noted. 

 

September 11: Red, White, + Burpees
We will kick off the FitBeat series with a Bootcamp-style workout enjoying an American theme playlist. Never forget 9/11/01! Class instructor - Georgia

Pop Up - September 18: Motown Moves
To help kick off Royal Studios Family Day come move with us with some of Motown's biggest hits!

September 25: Rock Body
Total body cardio and strength workout using your own bodyweight while jamming out to a great ROCK playlist! Class instructor - Bridgette

October 9: Fit Fest
FALL in LOVE with fitness during this total-body cardio and strength workout using your own body weight. Class instructor - Jordan

October 23: Halloween HIIT
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a form of interval training, a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. The class will include a spookishly fun playlist to get us feeling festive for Halloween! Class instructor - Kristen​​​

November 6: Green + White Pound
Channel your inner rockstar with this full-body cardio-jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums! Class instructor - Daylen​​​

Pop Up - November 16: 50 Nights of Lights Ugly Christmas Sweater 5K/Fun Run (5:30 p.m. - Downtown Cleveland)
Join us downtown as we run through Cleveland's 50 Nights of Lights display wearing your best ugly Christmas sweater! Class will meet at Balance Fitness located inside The Cotton House. Click here for a map of downtown. More information about 50 Nights of Lights is available here.

November 20: Planksgiving
In this class, we will celebrate and give thanks to the CORE! This class will involve LOTS of plank variations to strengthen the entire core. Your ‘core’ is your midsection–the powerhouse–the center of your body that houses your deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine. When you work out your core and keep it strong, your entire body benefits. Class instructors - Georgia & Lauren

December 4: Cardio + Coffee
Cardio class that will include a variety of movements and exercises to get the heart rate pumping! Cardio is short for cardiovascular exercise. Cardio exercises can vary greatly, but at the core, it includes movement that increases blood circulation throughout the body and increases your heart rate. A coffee bar will be set up after class! December 18: Holiday Zumba
Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness. The festive playlist will be sure to have you in the Holiday spirit. Workout classes and programs will take place on the front porch of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi unless notated otherwise. Participants do not have to sign up or purchase tickets to attend. Attendees should wear comfortable workout wear for each class.

In addition, to ensure that guests remain safe during health events taking place at the Museum, GRAMMY Museum Mississippi will have hand sanitizer stations located throughout the Museum and social distancing will be encouraged. The Museum also encourages guests to wear masks while inside the Museum or participating in FitBeat Series events.
