Delta Sessions: Guitar 101

GRAMMY Museum^® Mississippi’s Delta Sessions: Guitar 101  is an adaptation of a model program pioneered by country music musician and songwriter Charlie Worsham’s Follow Your Heart Arts organization and uses that model to reach students and families across the 18-county MS Delta region through its own program called Delta Sessions.

The primary purpose of Delta Sessions:Guitar 101 is to identify, engage, and nurture the next generation of Mississippi Delta musicians and provide them with the skills needed to develop the capacity to tell their stories through music and songwriting. Through a series of twenty-one sessions that teach the basics of guitar playing, introduce songwriting, explore various Delta hiertage sites, this program will focus on providing Delta students with the skills needed to develop the capacity to tell their stories through music and songwriting. 

With Delta Sessions, each student will be provided with guitar lessons, a field trip to various Delta Cultural sites, a guitar theory book, and a free guitar with successful completion and graduation of the program.
