Strong, determined, and uniquely gifted are only a few descriptions that come to mind when the name “La’Porsha Renae” is sounded off. Renae was born in the small town of Greenville, MS, but was raised most of her childhood in the town of Raceland, LA. She was a shy child and after relocating to the small town of McComb, MS, she spent most of her time alone, learning songs and vocal techniques, relentless to follow her future dreams of participating on the hit singing competition show American Idol. Her peers didn’t know it at the time, but she would make her dream a reality and appear on the singing show at the age of 22.
Renae victoriously finished the competition as runner-up and snagged a recording deal with Motown Records. She continues to inspire the world with her game changing music. Her debut single “Battles" was selected as the theme song for the 2016 Women’s Olympics. Her debut album was released March of 2017, and her hit single “Good Woman” made the top 6 on the Billboard charts. Renae caught the attention of the world, which landed her appearances on daytime television shows including, but not limited to The Couch, The Steve Harvey Show, The Real, and The Mike and Kelly Show. She’s been showcased at The Essence Fest and on The Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage and has toured nationally with GRAMMY award-winning artists such as Fantasia, Charlie Wilson, and Anthony Hamilton.
Since fame, Renae now serves as an advocate for Domestic Violence awareness, Human Trafficking Awareness, and Mental Health Awareness. She speaks openly about her traumatic marital experience around the country, and even personally accompanies victims while they face their abusers in court. La’Porsha Renae is a sensational artist, a phenomenal mother, and one heck of a Good Woman.
