Next Generation Project Saturday Sessions
GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi’s Next Generation Project is an adaptation of a model program pioneered by country music musician and songwriter Charlie Worsham’s Follow Your Heart Arts organization and uses that model to reach students and families across the 18-county MS Delta region through its own program called Saturday Sessions.
The primary purpose of the Next Generation Project’s Saturday Sessions program, is to identify, engage, & nurture the next generation of Mississippi Delta musicians through a series of twelve weekend workshops that teach the basics of guitar playing and a separate workshop for songwriting to Delta students, providing them with the means to pursue careers in music and songwriting.
Saturday Sessions will be held from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. each Saturday starting February 1, 2020 through May 2, 2020. With Saturday Sessions, each student will be provided with guitar lessons, a field trip to various Delta Cultural sites, a guitar theory book, and a free guitar with successful completion and graduation of the Next Generation Project.
