GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi is proud to present The Gospel Showdown on Saturday, September 15, at 2pm.  To continue our celebration of Gospel Music Heritage Month, we will feature the Greater New Kingdom MB Church Choir from Cleveland, MS, Grace Outreach Bible Church Choir from Greenville, MS, The Tunica Gospel Choir from Robinsonville, MS, and the Washington County Voices of Inspiration from Greenville, MS. All four choirs from the Delta region will perform two songs and will be judged on diction, stage presence, originality in presentation, rhythmic accuracy, and conductor’s ability.  The winner will receive a trophy and a $500 donation to their church or organization. Judges for the competition include six-time GRAMMY-nominated gospel singer Melvin Williams, WRBJ radio personality Chandra Wise, and The Delta News Assignment Manager, Woodrow Wilkins. There will also be special performances by Melvin Williams, the Jubilee Performing Arts Chamber Choir from McComb, MS and Delena Fordham Jones from Leland, MS.  Tickets purchased in advance are $5 and tickets at the gate are $8.  Food and beverage will be available on-site for purchase.  Gates open at 1:00pm.  Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted on premises.  For more information please call Guest Services at 662.441.0100.  

 


GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi is pleased to announce the First Annual Gospel Showdown on September 15, 2018 at 2:00p.m. on the Front Lawn. 

Up to ten groups will be selected to perform two songs and will be allotted 10 minutes for their performance. Groups selected will be judged by song, appearance, and crowd support.  There will be two prizes awarded:

GRAND PRIZE: $500.00 (payable to choir's church), a trophy and an invitation to perform at a future museum event.
RUNNER UP: trophy

Submissions will be accepted until September 5, 2018 at 5:30p.m.

How To Enter:

Each choir must designate a representative who will serve as the choir’s spokesperson and point of contact.

This person will be responsible for the accurate and timely submission of all required information and documentation.

Mail-in entries must be a single package that includes:

Acknowledgement of the Competition Overview and Official Rules

A video of a recent performance of the choir. The video can either be mailed with the application or emailed to programs@grammymuseumms.org. If emailed, please include the Choir’s name and Contact in the subject line.


Submissions will be accepted until September 5, 2018 at 5:30p.m

Advance tickets will be available until September 15 at noon.  Tickets purchased after that time will be $8.

Tickets are non-refundable.  In the event of rain, an alternate date will be determined.
